Half Acre's Heyoka at the 1st ever craft beer festival at House Of Blues Chicago

Half Acre’s Heyoka at the 1st ever craft beer festival at House Of Blues Chicago

The concept for this event that takes over all 4 floors and celebrates local arts,  started at the San Diego location back in 2011. The House Of Blues Chicago edition featured 10 bands and 20 breweries spread over every inch on the venue. Unlike most craft beer events held in River North, this one was had soul, and really made an attempt to appreciate fresh, local beer. I mean 1st off it’s at HOB. It’s hard not to get excited when the culture shifts and we get to turn a place like this into the type of beer/ music collaboration that we almost never see.

Live Nation is HOB’s partner on the event series. We took the opportunity to partner with our friends at In The City TV to provide video coverage. Interviews with Half Acre, Empirical Brewing, House Of Blues Events Management, Anthem Cider and more can be found on their website in the coming weeks.

Sure there were folks who you know probably drink from frosted mugs when they’re at home. But it was still hard to deny how fun this little get together of 1300 people was.

Over the years HOB Chicago has created one of the city’s definitive live music spaces.  Founder Isaac Tigrett’s love for unique visual arts and southern culture is something you can feel when you spend time here. This is especially true on level 3 and 4 in the Foundation Room. It was also unusually cool enjoying this party from the opera boxes overlooking the main stage.

These levels are typically reserved for a members-only, curated experience for private parties. The upper levels of the building are both wicked and luxurious. It kinda reminds you an exotic blend of stained glass and dim lighting that feels like a speakeasy and brothel in a big genie bottle.

Many people we spoke with came to watch Chicago’s own – The Jordan Years perform. Their ten song album, Homemade Hustler follows the story of a recent corporate castaway who decides to make ends meet on his own terms. It’s also the name of their session IPA collaboration with 18th Street Brewery.
